Promotion This is probably the hardest part of the job. You need to make sure people can find your site and, more importantly, that they'll tell their friends about it. There are a few ways to do this. One is to use some of the links in our Useful Sites section to sign up for web rings, search engines, and link exchanges. Another is to visit other sites. Many Save Me sites have links to other sites. If you find one that does, ask if you can swap links. Many people are eager to do this and will jump at the chance. You need to be a little careful though - if their story is similar but their site is better, you might want to avoid linking to them and pick someone slightly less competitive with your site. You can also promote your site yourself in passive ways. Add your site's address to your email signature. Sign a few guestbooks and list your site. Send emails to friends who might be willing to help you by forwarding your email to their friends. This last one is especially good if you have content that other people might be interested in seeing and sharing. Don't be afraid to send emails to local newspapers or radio and tv stations if you don't mind having people know who you are. Many journalists are looking for these stories right now. They've appeared in many major news outlets already and on a slow news day you just might make the "local scene".
