Multiple Sclerosis patient in medical need of bypass (lap band) surgery, PLEASE HELP ME.
After several visits with my family doctor, it has been determined that it is medically necessary to have bypass surgery. I had been seeking help through a weight loss company without any success. I have Multiple Sclerosis and Digenerative Disc Disease. I've already had spinal surgery done and have several other areas in my spine that are not in good shape. I have severe back pain along with every symptom of MS. I have daily issues with muscle pain, numbness, vision problems, balance problems, severe fatigue, anxiety, depression, and pins and needles feeling. I also had a brain injury(epidural hematoma) many years ago (the same injury as Natasha Richardson) resulting in terrible headaches along with migrains. My doctor said that loosing weight will certainly help my quality of life and help with my MS symptoms. He explained why I'm not loosing the weight, having to do with chemical reactions. If I don't loose this weight, it could kill me. Being "MORBIDLY OBESE" is terribly frightening. I have five kids from 8 months old to 18 years old. The day after I was diagnosed with MS I had a severe MS attack which landed me in the hospital for a week. Since March of 07, I've had many MS flair-ups which require intravenous IV drugs. If I can't take care of myself, it makes it very hard to care for my family. I have a tremendous amount of stress in my life/marriage. My husband has severe mental problems and personality disorders. I've looked into getting outside health coverage, taking money out of insurance policies, supplemental coverage, and even getting a bank loan, all without any success. The doctor that would be doing the proceedure said that any donations could be made directly to the doctors office on my behalf. The cost of this proceedure is appx. $15000.00. There would be additional cost if there are any problems. I hope that would not be the case. I am desperate to have this proceedure done for the sake of my life. I do believe that donations can be tax deductable. Thank you so much of taking the time to read my story and hopefully help me to have this proceedure done, saving my life.
