A dream for my mom & family...Maybe dreams can come true, you never know.

I have three brothers and one sister. All but one brother live withing 10 miles of each other. We consider ourselves "rich" in a lot of ways because of how close we all are. While there are many people struggling way worse whan we are, it can't hurt to at least try something. If you don't try then there is no chance. My husband and I went camping in Lone Pine 2 weeks ago, and we saw a magazine in town which had full page article about historic Lubken Ranch near Lone Pine, CA. A 759 acre paradise at the foot of Mount Whitney. The land is beautiful and is what we imagine our "dream retirement" would be. It has it's own water rights and is surrounded by land owned by the BLM & DWP. Improvements include water systems, corrals, 1- 4 bedroom 3 bath ranch house, outbuildings, and the old Pheasant Hunting Clubhouse now converted to living quarters. The pictures are breath taking. This maagical place is for sale for $7,450,000. That's more money than we all will ever see combined in our life times, but for 759 improved acres of that beauty in California's Eastern Sierra Nevada, the price is a steal. I have never done anything like this in my life, but we can't stop thinking about it. Even my husband who is normally not the kind to go on and on can't stop thinking about it either. He even stopped and bought $10 in lottery tickets the day he saw that magazine.

We all (but my little brother and his young son) have homes and work full time, daily life in Los Angeles is slowly choking us all. My husband and I support my mom who has lived with us for almost 15 years now. She raised us alone (& no child support) since my eldest brother was 12. She sacrificed everything for us and molded us to become the people we are today. Caring, hard working, honest and conscientious people who all want the same thing. To have someplace where we can all live separately yet all be together. All work together to build something like a guest ranch. My mom is 78 now and while in good health, time is not on her side. If something like this ever happened for us, the first thing I would want to do would be to start a animal rescue facility in honor of my mom. When we were young, she would take us all to the dog pound most every weekend with a wheel barrow filled with treats that she payed for with money she got by turning in glass bottles. We learned early on about caring for cats, dogs, skunks, snakes and whatever else tugged at her heart strings. She still to this day helps stray cats and dogs around our neighborhood. Since there wasn't money enough to take 5 kids to movies or ice cream, she would take us storm chasing (lived in AZ.), and to Luke Air Force Base to watch the jets fly. As my brother got older, he would take her Chrysler station wagon when she got home from work on Friday nights, and would put on racing slicks and a big towering carburator and he and my mom would take turns drag raceing it sometimes at Beeline Dragway. Because of her, we all get together every weekend at our house to watch Nascar, NHRA, F1, IRL, AMA. Any form of racing. We still to this day love storm chasing and military aircraft, all because of my mom.

I know that if by some miracle something like this ever happened, my mom would rest in peace for ever knowing her kids are living they way she had always dreamed of for us.

If anyone is still reading this (sorry to drone on), I thank you for that. It feels good to get this off my chest and to know that I did something to at least try to make a dream come true. No one knows of me doing this but me. Not even my husband of 22 years, my best friend. He would be sad if he knew how much I have been thinking about that place, knowing he couldn't get it for us.

Maybe somehow someone who has that kind of money and wants to make a family's dream come true will read this. You never know. If you don't try then you will never know.

Or, they could snatch up that land and build their own dream. I then would feel I have given them something.

Thanks for reading this and just has God has blessed me, I ask God to bless you all.
