Honors Student in Poverty Needs $20-whatever you can give

I am a honors student with a perfect GPA and many extracurriculars. I am president of Key Club, on the academic team, the drama club, and parliamentarian of National Honor Society.

Even though it I am such a determined young woman, it is hard to achieve my goals with the constant emotional stress of being poor. I am being raised by my single mother who makes less than 15K a year. She has to support me and my twin sister (who is an equally good student) all without the help of my deadbeat dad.

My family really is destitute. We use foodstamps, HUD, state medical insurance, and food banks. The only thing we are not on is welfare.

Sometimes I cry myself to sleep because of the basic things I lack. None of my friends are poor, so it's very hard for them to understand why I get so depressed.

All I am asking for is as much money as you can give me. In my current situation, I do not even have enough money to get a haircut. I had a job, but the business had to shut down due to bankruptcy, and there are no other places to work in my small town.

If anyone could send me even $20 I would be grateful beyond all belief.
